A contest between the teams of Pakistan and England has always been an interesting event for the supporters of both nations. Pakistan and England first came face to face in 1954 when Pakistan toured England under the captaincy of Abdul Hafeez Kardar and the English side was led by Captain Len Hutton. Although, the series was drawn with both the teams winning one match out of four.
It was followed by series played during the 60s and the 70s which were dominated by the English side. Pakistan defeated England on the English soil in the tour of 1987 for the first time under the captaincy of current Prime Minister Imran khan.
Then Pakistan consecutively ruled the English side in the tour of 1992 and 1996. In the tour of 2006, the Pakistan team faced a controversy related to ball-tempering during the fourth test at The Oval. The Pakistani players refused to take the field after the tea break in protest at the decision and the match was given to the English side.
2010 was another tour that would always be remembered in the cricketing history because of the spot-fixing scandal faced by three Pakistani cricketers namely captain Salman butt, Muhammad Amir and Muhammad Asif.
After the depressing tour of 2010, Pakistan toured England in 2016. The 4 match series was drawn 2-2. Misbah-ul-Haq became the oldest batsman to score a hundred at Lords at age 42.
